ABOUT ME
BEHIND THE LENS
I am Pamela Mabry. I live in the great state of Texas and I was born in Houston, TX in 1986.
When I was a little girl, I spend most of my time hiding from recess in the library, reading books about science and the human body. Naturally, I began developing a career centered around such studies at the age of 16. I attended a school for Natuopathy as I wanted to become a Naturopathic Doctor. My spirit slightly disheartened when I discovered such a degree would be useless in Texas.
During my early twenties, I got into Massage Therapy and studied and the Texas School of Massage Therapy, graduating with a license to practice massage. A couple years later, I obtained a licensure to instruct and approval to teach continuing education. My practice was centered around therapeutic modalities and prevention.
I opened my first practice in 2008 after obtaining my licesure, right out of school. I tanked! I ended up landing contracts and volunteering for several clinics and organizations in the area before completely diving into instructing in 2012. At that time, I sat in the Program Director's chair for a medical college and began my first experiences with burn-out.
It was at that time I decided to return to private practice. I found a Doctor to take me on board to build my practice, obtained a personal trainer's certificate, and deepened my studies by combining the two disciplines into one fluid protocol.
I held many public seminars, spoke at a couple chamber of commerce meetings, and really enjoyed the connections involved with public relations. With burn-out completely set in, and after much self examination, I resolved that it was finally time to find another career.
I applied to many jobs that were within my qualifications to no avail. Finally, I came across a local casting call and decided it could not hurt, as I had nothing to lose. As it turned out, I landed a role for my first audition.
I come from a family history of entertainers. My uncle, Jimmy Stewart, played fiddle for Brooks & Dunn and is now touring with Dolly Pardon. My Mother once took the stage and won Female Vocalist of the Year in 1999 at the Magnolia Opry.
I recall a time when I once sang and danced in a school play and remember how free I felt during that performance. That same passion, now rekindled, I bring to each audition and every scene.
Some other passions include shooting, martial arts, sewing, reading, writing, singing, and just being a Mom.
